Design and Implementation of Decision Support system for Career Development

A career guidance system based on the normative Baysian approach was designed and implemented to help students to make their own decisions. Although there has been lingering doubt about the effectiveness of the normative theory for this purpose, we believe that it does help students to know his interest, value system, his knowledge level about future possible career and establish their own identity. Moreover the system developed for this purpose has a apecial module in which students enjoy simulation for their lives. this module has some interesting functions as follows ;(1) drawing of the decision tree (2) measurement of subjective probability in terms of the probability language expressions, (3) measurement of utility via AHP,(4) suggestion of the optimal alternative by maximizing the subjective expected utility.This system was used by about 20 students and they are given a evaluation questionnaire and they considered this system to be useful. Considerable theoretical development about the relationship between the normative approach and descriptive approach was done during this period.
