(1) Characterization of Multimedia TrafficFrom the data analysis for a sequence of frames generated by MPEG2 variable bit rate encoding of a motion picture video, we have computed the Hurst parameter values as a measure of long-range dependence in the traffic source process.(2) Performance Evaluation of the D Channel Access Control Scheme in ISDNBy the analysis of stochastic process and simulation for a model of the D channel access control scheme in the ISDN basic user/network interface, we have evaluated the throughput and mean waiting time for both signal and packet transmission from the terminals to the network.(3) Analysis of Queueing SystemsWe have studied a number of queueing systems with priority-based service scheduling including cyclic priority (polling models) and preemptive loss priority discipline. We have also developed several procedures for calculating the higher-order moments of the waiting time using Mathematica software.
