本研究の二年目にあたる本年度は、英米でも漸く研究テーマとして確立しつつある法律語研究の成果(例えばPeter.M.Tiersma,Legal Language,1999)を参考にしつつ、本研究の基礎となる理論面の研究を行うとともに、本研究の成果として公表予定の辞典の全体構想・採用語彙選定・説明文等について最終決定をすべく、前年度Iでの試行を踏まえ、Iの修正と新たにMでの試行錯誤を繰り返した。その上で、前年度暫定的に決めた本辞典の三つ新機軸、即ち(1)語彙は法律専門語に限定せず、法に関する俗語も加えること、(2)説明を極力排し訳語を見れば説明を要しない訳語を作ること、(3)熟語・連語collocationを多く加えることで、全体を纏めることができるだけでなく、他の英和法律語辞典に例のない特色を出せる予想が立った。この特色を生かせば法律専門家は勿論、一般の人々、特に文学者を含む英米研究者をも対象にした有益、有意義な英和法律語辞典ができるものと信じている。基本方針をこのように確定し、しかもIとMにつき実際に原稿ができ上がった時点で、我国では特に英和辞典編集で大きな実績の有る研究社辞書部のスタッフの協力を得、辞典作成のノウハウを含め多<の参考となる事項につき知識を得た。その上でアルファベット順に完成原稿執筆に移行し、AとBについても原稿をほぼ作成し終えた。しかし申請段階では気づかなかった旧来の英和法律語辞典すべての、予想をはるかに越える多くの欠陥の故に、当初の予定はやや遅れを見せている。にもかかわらず何とかして大部分の原稿、せめて草稿完成までは期間内に終えたいと努力を続けている。

On the other hand, the manuscript is written and moved smoothly, and the manuscript is completed between A and B. A dictionary of old English and legal terms is used to describe the reasons for the lack of information and the reasons for the lack of information. Most manuscripts, drafts, etc. are completed, and efforts are made to complete them.
