北海道大学教育学部附属乳幼児発達臨床センターの園児6名を被験者として、面接を行った。尋ねられた項目は所有の意味と定義、個人が所有していることの根拠(所有の対価性、売買と金銭の交付などを含む)、所有の始まりと終了、所有と現実の所持の関係、分配の公正と所有などである。知見は以下の通りである。(i)5歳児においては、所有(権)の概念(…は誰のもの)はあるものの、現実の所有と区別された所有(権)を十分には観念できていない。これに対し、6歳児では所持から区別された所有(権)をある程度は観念できるようになっている。(ii)所有の起源、始期についての「買ってくれた」という発言から見られるように、社会的概念としての素朴な売買は理解していて、それが所有(権)(の正当性)の観念と結びついている。(iii)金銭と売買と所有(権)の帰属については漠然としてはいるがある程度の理解がある。金銭の意味は、その象徴性にあるのか、対価性にあるのかははっきりしないが、出捐者に所有が帰属するという趣旨の発言から見ると、対価性にあるように見える。(iv)その対価性と関連して、分配の公正と所有の観念の問題があるが、その関係ははっきりしない。分配が公正でない場合、混乱、困惑などを感じるが、所有と分配の公正を何らかの形で両者を結びつけている子供と所有の正当性はそれとは全く別であると解している子供とがいる。(v)贈与という概念も理解されていて、それも所有権の根拠になっている。ただし、それは家族間など特定の人間関係に限られているように思われる。(vi)5歳児においては、所有権概念の相補性の理解(自分の所有権を主張する反面、他人の所有権も尊重する)は低く、従って所有(権)主張には、自我の強さが効いている部分があるように思われるが、6歳児では所有権の相補性の理解がかなり見られる。
