北海道大学教育学部附属乳幼児臨床発達センターの5、6歳児5名を対象にインタービューを行い、子供の所有権の概念の獲得について、以下のような知見を得た。(1)5、6歳の幼児といえども、所有権の概念(,..は誰のもの)が存在する。(ii)客体の支配可能性が所有の条件であることは被験者すべての発言が一致している。(iii)家のものと自分のものとの区別ははっきりとは存在していないように思われる。(iv)子供の理解では、所有権の始期あるいは発生原因の重要なものとして、売買があるように思われる。(v)売買の理解が所有権の概念の獲得に結びつくと仮定した場合、その理由は現実の所持の移転ではなく、売買の対価性にあるように思われる。そして、対価性に所有権の獲得の根拠があるとするならば、この問題はアダムスらに始まる分配の公正の心理学と結びつくであろう。実際、被験者の幼児は公正ではない分配を受けると(例えば友達はお菓子1つで自分は2つ先生から分配を受ける)、所有についてとまどいを感じているのである。(vi)売買に加えて、贈与という概念も理解されていて、それも所有権の根拠になっている。ただし、それは家族間など特定の人間関係に限られているように思われる。(vii)所有権の消滅については子供がどのように考えているかはよくわからない。ただし、占有(現実の所持)を失っているだけでは所有権は消滅しないと考えているらしい。(viii)貸す、借りるという概念も子供に理解されている。長く貸したり、借りたりしていることにより、所有権が消滅したり、移転することはないということは理解されている。
