项目摘要

本研究は、遺跡の保存や復元が都市計画、空地開発等の都市開発とこれまで必ずしもうまく連動してこなかった点、遺跡保存に際しての遺跡周囲の環境や住民の意見等を十分に検討し、まちづくりと連携する必要性、また、現状では遺跡データの多くが、未だ体系的に整備されておらず、地理情報とも一体化していない点などを研究の背景として、都市計画、考古学の研究者による学際的な取組みとして着手した。本研究では、伊都国があったことで知られる糸島半島を研究対象地とし、遺跡データと地図データを統合し、インターネット上で利用できるシステム(Web GIS)の構築を試みた。また、遺跡データのまちづくりへの活用、都市計画家や考古学者などの異分野の専門家と行政や住民とのコラボレーション、古代の文脈解読等を支援するためのシステムとしてのコンテンツや機能の検討を行った。更に、構築したGISデータベースの応用方法の1つとして、遺跡の立地傾向を定性的、定量的に分析し、出土予測を試みるとともに、システムの有効性の検証を行った。構築したシステムの特徴として、インターネットの活用により多数の人々が情報を共有できる点、遺跡データの追加・更新を簡単に操作・管理できる点、GISの機能によりわかりやすい視覚的表現、情報の抽出や分析を簡単に操作し、実行できる点等が挙げられる。遺跡の立地傾向の分析において、これまでGISの利用例はあまり行なわれていないが、様々な要素が絡んでいる遺跡の立地の空間的関係について分析する上で、GIS技術の活用は大変有効であった。このシステムを使用することにより、時系列的、広域的な遺跡分布の把握が可能となり、分布状態の定性的分析、遺跡の立地地点の標高、傾斜角、傾斜方位をもとにした定量的分析から、遺跡相互の関係や遺跡と地理的条件や自然条件との関連が把握できた。
