1.グローバル化と地域社会に関する理論研究「「開発」過程における主体である住民から見た地域像-南太平洋・サモアを事例に-」と題する研究において、本年度はグローバリゼーションがローカル社会へ与える影響を考察するための分析枠組みの検討を行なった。具体的には、人文地理学において、グローバリゼーションとローカル地域の関係を論じているドリーン・マッシーの理論を検討した。そして、それに基づいて、グローバリゼーション下におけるサモアの変容を、グローバル対ローカルの図式ではなく、グローバルを内包しながら変容していくローカルという様相で描くための理論構築を試みた。2.フイールド調査3月に2週間だけ、サモアで実施した。その際、主として今まで調査してきた女性省の活動や女性たちによるインフォーマルな仕立て業の展開状況について補足調査を行なうと同時に、政府機関において新たな統計資料や地図を収集した。新たな調査としては、女性性を呈示するサモア男性のテーラリングについての予備調査を開始した。また、ニュージーランドにも滞在し、サモアに関する先行研究の収集を行なった。3.研究成果サモアの第3のジェンダーとテーラリングに関する研究課題について整理した「ファファフィネテーラーを追っかけろ!-サモアのジェンダーと「衣」をめぐる調査から-」が、日本オセアニア学会のNewsletter, No.74に掲載された。
