モンゴル語音韻史の中で、18世紀末に満洲語・モンゴル語・漢語(中国語)の対訳辞書として編纂された『満珠蒙古漢字三合切音清文鑑』に採録されている約14,000項目のモンゴル語を主たる研究対象とした。この対訳辞書は、漢語に対しては満洲文字とモンゴル文字によって、満洲語に対しては漢字とモンゴル文字でによって、そしてモンゴル語に関しては漢字と満洲文字で発音を表記していることが大きな特徴である。研究では、収録されているすべてのモンゴル語について、漢字で表記されている発音と、語彙構成の二つの側面からその特徴を明らかにすることを目指した。この辞書では「三合切音」方法によるモンゴル語表記が行われている。この「三合切音」表記では子音と母音が別々の漢字で表され、116個の漢字が使われている。満州文字による表記ではモンゴル文語の4つの円唇母音に対し、満州語の3つの円唇母音が当てられている。モンゴル文語のoに対して満州語のoが、モンゴル文語のu、uに対して満州語のuが、モンゴル文語のo対して満州語のuが使われている。しかし子音g、kの後ではモンゴル文語のuに対して満州語のuが使われている。またモンゴル文語のoとuに対して満州語のuが使われている。また母音oに代わってuが現れていることや独特のことば使いなどから、この辞書の製作にモンゴル語の東部方言の人々が大きく関わっている可能性がある。また満州語とモンゴル語の比較によって、モンゴル語の語彙の構成方法として、モンゴル語の項目に満州語をそのまま使ったもの;満州語を訳して新しくつくったもの;満州語の形を多少変えたものがあることを指摘することができる。さらにモンゴル語の語幹に満州語の語尾を付けたり、満州語の語幹にモンゴル語の語尾を付けたものも見いだされる。

In the middle and late 18th century, the history of Mongolian phonology was recorded in the dictionary of Chinese (China), and about 14,000 items were collected and recorded.
