项目摘要

今年度は研究成果を発表する機会に恵まれなかった。研究内容は昨年度からの継続であるが、いくつかの方向修正があった。そのなかでも大きなものとして、極端な科学志向が薄れてきたことが挙げられる。わたしのこれまでの立場は、「文学の科学」たる文芸学を重視する立場、誤解を恐れず言い換えれば文学理論を徹底して重視する立場であった。その際、主に二つの視点を取り入れてきた。つまり、一方でマルクス主義的な唯物論に基づく文学についての社会学的研究であり、他方で古典詩学の流れを引き継ぐ文学についての言語学的研究である。前者については主としてサルトルなどフランスの思想家、さらにはイーグルトンなどイギリスの思想家の論考に頼ってきた。後者についてはプラトンやアリストテレスの詩論を踏まえたうえで、ヤコブソンやバルトなど現代の思想家に眼を配ってきた。しかしながら、同じように文学といっても、それぞれの思想家が念頭においている文学概念に関しての相違が大きく、同じ枠組みのなかでとらえることがむずかしくなってきた。現代の思想家の議論を概観し、それを古代ギリシア・ローマの哲学者の議論を引き合いに出しながら補強するというスタイルに、ほころびが目立っようになってきたのである。そこで現在は、理論偏重からの脱却を図るべく、先に挙げた二つの視点のうちの前者を棚上げし、古典期の詩学から現代の言語学的文学研究へと至る流れを考察している。さらに、古代の誌面比較論に端を発する芸術ジャンル論に焦点を絞っている。その際、文学をその表現媒体たる言語によってのみ特徴づけるのではなく、表現される内容をも見るようにしている。つまり、文学とはなにを表現するものであるかという議論を歴史的にたどっているのである。こうしたアプローチこそが、研究課題たる「芸術としての文学の思想性・社会性・政治性」の解明に最も有効であろうという認識に達した。
