项目摘要

研究を開始する初年度の課題は、日本近現代文学における東京裁判に関連する研究資料の収集及び整理であった。そのため、戦争裁判関係の研究会に参加するなど、資料を集めるためのネットワークを構築する一方で、特別研究員は、個別テクストの分析を行い、論文として発表している（10.研究発表を参考）。東京裁判と文学の試論ともいうべき本論考では、木下順二の『神と人とのあいだ』を手掛かりに、文学に戦争裁判を甦らせる契機を探ったものである。2018年度は、本作をはじめ、戦争裁判を描いた戯曲が次々へと舞台化された特記すべき年であった。新国立劇場開場20周年記念で朝鮮人ＢＣ級戦犯を描いた鄭義信の『赤道の下のマクベス』が同年3月に、井上ひさしの東京裁判三部作の一作目として知られている『夢の裂け目』が同年6月に舞台化されたのである。2018年に戦争裁判を正面から扱った数少ない文学作品が同時に舞台に甦られたという、このタイムリーな状況において、なぜ木下は1970年代に東京裁判を書いたのか（どのような同時代状況がそのような文学作品を生む土台となったのか）、それからだいぶ時間が経過した現在、舞台を前にした読者はどのような解釈へ導かれるか、また、本研究の中心的問いであった、裁判の速記録（法の言葉）を戯曲（文学の言葉）にしたことの意味、方法論などが論文のなかで追及された。共同研究の成果としては、ロバートキャンベル、十重田裕一（受入研究者）、宗像和重編『東京百年物語』（全三巻、岩波書店、2018年10月－12月）の刊行に際して、特別研究員は編集協力と梗概執筆を行なった。以上、当初予定していた2年間より1年半も研究期間が短縮されたため、研究成果は限られるが、研究は順調に開始し、これから継続していくうえで土台となる重要な視座を得ることができた。
