A syntactic and Lexical study on Transitivity and Indirect object in French

Pronominal verb sentence (271 (5.5%): a 59, de 46, (38.7%)), 4. Intransirive verb sentence (164 (3.3%): a 0, de 0, (0%)), 5. Passive sentence (264 (5.4%): a 34, de 18, (19.7%)), 6. Subjective complement sentence (181 (3.7%): a 21, de 7, (15.5%)), 7. Etre sentence (724(14.8%): a 73, de 47, (16.7%)), 8. Impersonal sentence (422 (&6%): a 57, de 101, (37.4%)), 9. Syntagmatic nucleus sentence (9 (0.2%): a 2, de 0, (22.2%)), 10. Non-verbal sentence (422 (8.6%)): a 56, de 28, (19.0%))In total, we have 320 sentence construction subtypes (not including those of the type 10) and 4906 occurrences. There are 104 subtypes (3 2.5%) of a and/or de indirect object sentences with their 1300 occurrences (26.5%). In the type 1, we have 1523 occurrenoces with 2 arguments (subject and direct objet (not including the "de-infinitif" type)). If these 1523 are subtracted, we have 505, of which the 436 sentences in question occupies 86.3%. This shows a high compatibility between direct object and & and de indirect object. 32.5% of the total subtypes (104 subtypes) contain a and/or de, and 52.2% (167 subtypes) contain other prepositions, and 15.3% (49 subtypes) are characterized only by noun, adjective, etc. One preposition at least characterizes 84.7% of the whole sentence subtypes. These facts indicate that direct objet and a and de indirect object costitute the nucleus part of the system of sentence construction types, and its variety is assured by prepositions.
