项目摘要

本研究は,人間の認知行動が言語表現においてどのように反映されているのかを明らかにすることを目指すものである。具体的には属性付与という行為に着目し,我々がある人物・事物に対して属性を付与する際に,どのような認知が働いているのかを,言語表現(特に構文体系)より明らかにする。研究の前半として昨年度は主に日本語における現象を観察し分析を行ったが,後半の今年度は中国語の分析を行い,日本語との対照を行った。日本語と中国語の共通点・相違点を明らかにすることにより,他言語の分析にも応用可能な認知カテゴリーの設定を行うことができた。具体的に明らかになったのは以下の2点である。(1)名詞述語と形容詞述語文の対立を担っているのは,両言語とも「部類」,「側面」という属性認知カテゴリーである。名詞述語文の典型は[+恒常性],[+有限性]といった特徴を持つ「部類」の認知が働き,形容詞述語文の典型は[-恒常性],[-有限性]といった特徴を持つ「側面」の認知が働いている。しかし,日本語の名詞述語文は「側面」の認知にも対応しうる場合が多いのに対し,中国語は逆に形容詞述語文が「部類」に対応する場合が多い。これは,日本語における名詞述語文の優勢と,中国語における形容詞述語文の優勢を示している。以上の研究成果は日本語談話文法研究会において口頭発表をし,一部は研究論文「属性叙述における名詞述語文」の中で発表した。(2)動詞述語文において,日本語は「〜を持つ」,「〜がある」,「〜をしている」といった述語による複数の構文があるが,これらの対立を担っているのは「機能」「程度」「様態」といった認知カテゴリーである。また中国語においては,これらの認知カテゴリーはひとつの構文に対応するが,述部における数量詞や連体修飾構造に反映されている。これらの研究成果は,研究論文「形容詞連体修飾における文法と音声」,「所有物の属性認識」において発表した。
