New subject, "Information Technology (IT)" was started for all students of upper secondary schools in 2003. This research is related to the development of network-oriented digital contents for the subject of "Information Technology". The results of this research are as follows.(1) Key-concept Analysis of the subject "Information Technology"(2) Network-oriented Teaching Model for e-Learning/WBL(3) Development of Digital Contents based on e-Learning/WBLThe aim of the new subject "IT" is not only to learn how to use a computer but also to develop information literacy so that students get important information without being confused by incorrect or unnecessary data. It also involves students being able to convey information about them. It is important that the new subject is needed even for scientific problem solving with computer. Students entering upper secondary school from 2003 study the subject "IT". The subject "IT" is composed of three courses ; IT-A, IT-B and IT-C. Students will ha … More ve to study one or more of these courses before graduation. What course is studied and the grade in which it is studied will vary from school to school. In addition, the standard number of credits is two units, which means two hours of study per week. The subject matter and level is different in each course. The major difference with other subjects is that practical learning using computers and the Internet will be emphasized. And all courses will also focus on "the rules and manners" required in the information society. Collecting information of the subject "IT" and analyzing key-concept are the first step for the development of network-oriented digital contents.Video recordings of the lectures are currently being used as the basis of some interactive CD-ROM and Internet based learning materials, which was developed, through completely non-linear editing of MPEG 2-level digital processing.
