We examined whether lack of mitochondrial DNA affects gene expression using DNA microarray analysis, to compare mRNA expression between Rho 0 cells and the parental cells, 143B. The results showed that lack of mitochondrial DNA could cause significant increases in chaperon genes in Rho 0 cells.
