The Representations of the Construction of the Female Subjectivity in English Renaissance Culture : Comparative Studies of Women Writers and Male Writers

本研究历时三年（2002年、2003年、2004年），目的是研究现代早期英国文化中女性建构主体性的尝试是如何表现出来的，并从性别和性的角度探讨这些表现的文化和社会意义。为此目的所采取的方法是将伊丽莎白和雅各比时期男性作家的作品与女性作家的作品并置。重点是比较研究男性作品中女性自我主张的表现，尤其是莎士比亚、韦伯斯特、米德尔顿、博蒙特和弗莱彻的作品，以及女性作品，尤其是玛丽·沃斯、玛丽·西德尼·赫伯特和伊丽莎白·凯里的作品。

The aims of this research conducted during the three years (2002,2003,2004) are to examine how women's attempts to construct their subjectivity are represented in the culture of early modern England and, to explore the cultural and social significance of these representations in terms of gender and sexuality. The approach to be taken for this purpose is to juxtapose the representations made by male writers with those by women writers in the Elizabethan and Jacobean period. The focus is placed on comparative studies of the representations of female assertion of selfhood in male-authored plays, especially of Shakespeare, Webster, Middleton, and Beaumont and Fletcher, and those in women's writings, especially by Mary Wroth, Mary Sidney Herbert and Elizabeth Cary.
