交付初年度である平成14年度には、ドイツにおいて2度(8月と3月)、日本において1度(2月)、上記研究課題に関するフィールドワークを行った。ドィツでは国家による難民庇護制度(アジール)に関連する諸機関(ニュルンベルクの連邦外国難民認定庁)と共に、キリスト教徒を中心とする民間人が行っている「教会アジール」について調査した。それによって、難民の「語り」が双方のアジールにおいて異なって扱われていること、教会アジールが法治国家に対して境界的な位置取りをしていることなどが明らかになった。日本の調査では、難民の基本的人権の保障(住居、医療)に種々の問題を残すことが分かった。平成15年度にはドイツにおいて1度(8月)にフィールドワークを行った。ここでは前年度の調査に対して補足的な情報を集めることを目的として、国連難民高等弁務官事務所ニュルンベルク支局と、ドイツで最初の教会アジールを実施したベルリンの教区で調査を実施した。また同月には本研究課題の理論的枠組みである平和研究を発展させるために、イスラエルに赴き現地で市民レベルでの和解・和平を実践している組織について調べた。15年度後半にはデータの整理と理論的考察に重点を置いた。その中で、難民庇護を分析する枠粗みである国民/主権国家論について研究し、特に国家・国民とその外部との境界に焦点を当てる「閾論的アプローチ」によって教会アジールを捉えることの妥当性について考察を進めた。この理論的作業において、ヴィクター・ターナーの概念装置(リミナリティ、社会劇など)を閾論的に読み換えることで、それらが難民庇護のようなトランスナショナルな事象に適した視角となると判明したことは収穫である。以上の実証的・理論的成果を現在論文としてまとめている。

The theory of work in the middle, any kind of concept device (from the beginning, social drama), the threshold theory of change, all kinds of refugee asylum, all kinds of things from the perspective of judgment. The results of the above theory are presented in this paper.
