本年度は、トレス海峡島嶼民が居住する地域における「学校と先住民コミュニティとの連携」について調査を継続した。具体的には、第一に先住民教育に関わる資料収集、第二にケアンズ・タウンズビル・木曜島におけるフィールドワークを実施した。あわせて、メルボルン・アデレードでは、リテラシー・ニューメラシー教育や先住民教育の専門家と面会し、インタビューを行った。資料収集は昨年度に引き続き、主にジェームスクック大学の図書館で実施した。同大学には、トレス海峡島嶼地域における学校教育に関する研究者が多く在籍し、今回はその第一人者であるバーリー・オズボーン氏と面会し、先住民教育と社会的公正について意見交換することができた。またタウンズビル、木曜島では、学校とコミュニティの連携についてのフィールドワークを継続した。具体的には、学校とコミュニティ間で交わされた「チャーター」をテーマとして、学校を訪問し、インタビュー調査や授業観察などを実施した。また、クイーンズランド州教育省と学校、先住民コミュニティの連携の「鍵」となっている先住民教育の支援機関がケアンズにある。そこでは、クイーンズランド州全体の学校と先住民コミュニティの連携についての動向を調査した。特に同機関は、先住民生徒のみを対象としたリテラシー技能の尺度を開発しており、その実施状況及び課題などをインタビューした。研究発表は、5月のアジア比較教育学会では"Two types of literacy scales for Australian indigenous students"、6月の日本比較教育学会では「ベンチマークとバンドスケール-オーストラリア先住民のリテラシーを測る「二つの尺度」-」、11月のカナダ教育研究会では「先住民に対する学校教育と社会的公正-オーストラリアの視点から-」を行った。それぞれ、論文として来年度に発表する予定である。
