项目摘要

第一に、芸態そのものの比較観察を行った。組踊については、従来は日本の能との類似のみが研究されてきたが、本研究では、中国の戯曲のなかに「執心鐘入」「二童敵討」「銘苅子」などとよく似た演目を指摘できた。また、登場人物の役柄や時間進行との関係など作劇法の点でも、中国戯曲との共通点を指摘できた。さらに、音楽の用法では、能の小段構造および戯曲の曲牌体と、組踊の音楽をそれぞれ比較したうえで、曲牌体により近いことを指摘した。第二に、中国戯曲の影響の可能性についての歴史的研究を行った。とくに、中国から派遣された歴代の冊封使が書き残した「使録」等を調査した。これによって、十六世紀以降の冊封使来琉の際、中国人の役者による戯曲の上演があったことがわかった。また、十九世紀の史料では琉球人自身が戯曲を演じていることから、これらの時代を通じて琉球人が中国の戯曲を学び取り、やがては自ら演ずるようになったプロセスが浮かび上がる。本研究は、十八世紀初頭における組踊の創出も、この過程のなかに位置づけることが可能であると結論した。このほか、冊封における舞踊の記録についても検討し、従来の研究が見過ごしていた中国民間舞踊との関連の可能性をさまざまに指摘した。例えば、使録にある「籃舞」については現在の「柳」に比定する見解が主流だが、本研究は中国民間舞踊の「採茶」の可能性を指摘した。御冠船芸能の実像についての従来の理解(イメージ)は大きく改める必要がある。以上の成果は、主として沖縄芸能史研究会および東洋音楽学会沖縄支部の研究会において合計5回にわたる口頭発表を踏まえ、年度末までに2点の雑誌論文にまとめることができたが、今後も考察と整理を重ね、来年度には東洋音楽学会の機関誌『東洋音楽研究』に総括的な論文を投稿する予定である。
