平成18年度前半は、平成17年度に実施した質問票調査(369世帯)のデータクリーニング、分析を中心に行った。2004年に火災で焼失した都心コミュニティにおける火災後1年半時点での居住と職業の実態調査(火災の影響と復興状況)に関するデータ、及びコミュニティ活動の実態に関するデータである。18年度後半は、分析データの結果を用いて、データの分析、および執筆を行った。平成18年度は、タイのインフォーマル経済に関する実証研究を、マクロ分析とミクロ分析の両方から、同時並行的に進めた。マクロ分析では、マクロな経済・労働市場の構造分析、都市空間に関する実証的な分析、及び政策分析を行った。マクロな構造分析、都市分析では、タイ国家統計局の統計データを使用・加工し、実証研究に取り組んだ。また、政策分析では、インフォーマル経済従事者に対する支援政策、都市貧困政策を概観し、理論・政策・実態の絡みの中で、政策の意図と実績、及び実態とのずれを浮き彫りにした。マクロ分析を通じて、動態的に変化するグローバル化時代の都市のダイナミズムと理論・議論の動向と到達点、課題を明確にしている。ミクロ分析では、マクロ分析での問題提起を受ける形で、ミクロな実証研究を展開している。タイ長期滞在時に実施した各調査のデータを分析し、都市下層民の「居住」及び「職業」に関して分析を行った。第1に、都市下層民全体の動向を確認した上で、第2には、リスク対応過程の分析(例:失業、火災、病気など)を取り入れ、都市下層内部の構造と格差を析出している。その上で、都市下層民の職業や居住の移動、及びそれに伴う階層移動とその要因を、ジェンダー、世代、職種などに留意しながら行った。平成18年度は、タイにおける長期実態調査から得られた膨大なデータを整理・分析し、新しい知見を示せたことが何よりも大きな成果であったといえる。これらの分析の成果は、京都大学経済学研究科に2月に提出した博士論文、および、各種研究会での研究発表の場で、報告している。また投稿論文も執筆中である。
