H18年度は特別研究員としての最終年度であるため、これまでの発掘調査で得られた諸資料を分析し、その結果を総合することを試みた。これまでに発掘したペルー国アンカシュ県ネペーニャ谷下流域のセロ・ブランコ遺跡とワカ・パルティーダ遺跡は、層位・土器分析ならびに一連の放射性炭素年代測定(東京大学年代測定室)等によって、少なくとも形成期の中期(セロ・ブランコ期:1100-800cal.BC)から後期前半(ネペーニャ期:800-450cal.BC)にかけて、同時に活動していた神殿であったことが確認された。これは、形成期における近接する複数の神殿間の時間的前後関係を実証した数少ない研究の一つであり、形成期後期の海岸地方では唯一の事例となる。同時期に活動していた両神殿の関係については、土器、建築のプラン・技法、図像、その他希少品等の分析結果から判断して、少なくとも形成期中期には、各々が異なる集団に属し、しかも支配・被支配関係などではなく、互いに独立した関係にあったものと推定された。動植物遺存体の分析(ペルー国立トルヒーヨ大学生物考古学研究所)では、形成期中期の終わりから後期初頭にかけて、それまでの根菜類(マニオク、ジャガイモ)に加わる形でトウモロコシが初めて導入されたことが判明した。これらは、ラクダ科動物やイヌ、魚介類等と共に、神殿に関わる儀礼の一部としてのフィースティングに際して供されたものであることが、遺物分析と民族誌例の比較などから導き出された。また、遺物の包含層中における密度の推移から、フィースティングはトウモロコシの導入と平行して活発になったことが明らかになった。形成期後期は海岸における大規模神殿群が次々に放棄された時期として知られており、例外的に生き残ったネペーニャの神殿では社会の危機感や緊張を和らげるために頻繁ないし大規模なフィースティングが催された可能性があるだろう。
