政治思想史における「公的/私的領域」の分節化とその倫理の問題において、当年度における研究実績は以下のようなものである。1,20世紀におけるギリシア的公共性の再興をめぐる問題古代ギリシャ・ポリスをめぐる議論は、「公・私」をめぐる研究の根源にかかわる問題であり、20世紀においてもその再興がハンナ・アーレントとレオ・シュトラウスという思想家によって行われてきた。「『全体性』の政治、『世界性』の政治一レオ・シュトラウスとハンナ・アーレントにおける『政治』と『哲学』」(現在『社会思想史研究』投稿中)は、そうした点を踏まえながら、両者の思想を比較検証し、ギリシャ・ポリスをめぐる両者の議論の差異を、両者の「公・私」の分節化の相違、とりわけ「政治」と「哲学」との関係性の相違として捉え、その現代的意義を論じた。2,ハンナ・アーレントの公共性論についての啓蒙「公・私」の分節化の問題については、ハンナ・アーレントの研究が現在ますます注目されているが、初学者にはその議論の見通しと今日的意義は分かりづらい状況となっている。「政治II--ハンナ・アーレント『人間の条件』」『はじめて学ぶ政治学』(ミネルヴァ書房、2008年出版予定)は、そうした点を鑑み、アーレント『人間の条件』の内容を、初学者向けに分かり易く解説したものである。これにより、アーレントが『人間の条件』で何を訴えたのか、どのような点で新たな「公共性」の枠組みを提起したのかについての普及に努めた。
