本年度の研究においては、前半期においては、平成16年度に集中的に読解作業を行ったビシャの生命論についてまとめ、特にその生命論のフランス哲学への影響、わけてもメーヌ・ド・ビランやオーギュスト・コントに与えた影響を主題的に研究することで、19世紀初頭における黎明期の生物学と哲学との相互交流を明らかにすることにつとめた。この作業を通じて、「生命」という主題を前にしたときの哲学の語り口の一つの特徴を明らかにした。即ち、メーヌ・ド・ビランにせよコントにせよ、ビシャが実証的な生理学において分割した「植物的-動物的」といった生命のあり方を改変し、「植物的生」には独自の地位を与えない、といった戦略をとるのである。これはメーヌ・ド・ビランとコントが一見すると対立する哲学者であるだけに興味深い共通点となっている。8月頃よりは、上記主題の研究を継続しつつ、フランス科学論の系譜をさらに追跡するための、コントより一世代後のフランスの科学哲学者クルノーに着目し、その著作の読解作業を行った。クルノーは経済学の業績が日本では特に知られているが、まず彼の生命論を中心に読解作業を行い、彼の科学論における生物学の位置について明らかにすることにつとめた。ここで注目すべきは、クルノー哲学においてはコント哲学と異なり、生物現象こそが最も神秘的な解き明かしがたいものとされている点である。この点についてはクルノー自身が社会現象に数学を適用することに長けていたなど様々な要因を考えることができるが、いずれにせよ、19世紀フランスにおける学問論の変遷を理解するにあたって、極めて興味深い現象となっている。この研究成果は平成18年度に何らかの形で公開される予定である。
