Comfortable aging has been a big social concern for the Japanese people. Not only Japan but the Japanese communities overseas have been graying because let alone Issei (Japanese Immigrants) but Nisei (Issei's children) and Sansei (Nisei's children) have reached old age as well.Their social status as ethnic minority increases the complication of aging problems. In this study, the researcher investigates the ethnic dimensions of aging among Japanese immigrants in the United States and Brazil. The questions to be addressed here are: How have the Japanese immigrants been aging in the United States, or in Brazil? How is their ethnicity related to the aging process? How do the ethnic communities provide a significant resource in accommodating the different problems of the ethnic elderly? .This ethnographic research is based on the fieldwork the researcher conducted in the United States, Hawaii, and Brazil from 2004 through 2007.

舒适的老龄化一直是日本人关注的一大社会问题。不仅是日本，海外的日本社区也在老龄化，因为更不用说Issei(日本移民)了，Nisei(Issei的孩子)和Sansei(Nisei的孩子)也已经到了老年。他们作为少数民族的社会地位增加了老龄化问题的复杂性。在这项研究中，研究人员调查了美国和巴西的日本移民老龄化的种族层面。这里要解决的问题是：日本移民在美国或巴西的老龄化情况如何？他们的种族与老龄化过程有什么关系？民族社区如何为解决不同种族老年人的问题提供重要的资源？这项民族志研究是基于研究人员从2004年到2007年在美国、夏威夷和巴西进行的田野调查。
