東アジア地域において無融合生殖種を除き最も多くのヤブマオ属の種が集中する中国南部の植物標本を多く収蔵する中国科学院華南植物園植物標本館(IBSC)を2006年12月に訪問し,基準標本を中心に所蔵されている標本の調査を行った。その結果,いくつかの新事実が判明した。それらは以下の通りである。中国南部の主に石灰岩地に分布するBoehmeria dolichostaohya W.T.WangとB.strigosifolia W.T.Wangは,最近は全く同一のものとされているが,IBSCに保管される両者の正基準標本を調べた所,確かに両者は葉や花被の形態では区別が困難であったが,葉の表面の毛の性質で明らかに区別できることがわかった。この特徴と,両者の分布範囲が大きく重なっていることにより,両者は同一種内の変種として認識可能である。中国南東部に多く見られるBoehmeria densiglomerata W.T.Wangは,葉や雄花のつき方などの特徴がB.doliehostachya W.T.Wangによく似ており,近縁と考えられる。これらの種は花粉の性質から両性生殖をすると考えられ,かつ日本や中国中部に広く分布する他の無融合生殖種に花被の形態が近い。昨年度の研究において,中国でBoehmeria clidemioides Miq.var.diffusa Hand.-Mazz.とされている植物は東南アジアの真のvar.diffusaとは異なると結論付けた。しかし,中国でも少なくとも雲南省南部には真のvar.diffusaが生育していることが判明した。この他,中国産タデ科植物標本に関しても調査を行い,従来日本固有とされていたマダイオウRumex madaio Makinoに酷似する植物が四川省に産すること,中国南部においてコガネギシギシR.maritimus L.とされていた植物はニセコガネギシギシR.trisetifer Stokesであり,花被片の刺の長さには変異が大きいこと,広東省や山東省青島で日本のものと同じイタドリFallopia japonica(Houtt.)Ronse Decr.が採集されていること,中国大陸には報告のなかったキヌタデPersicaria lapathifolia(L.)Delarbre var.lanata(Roxb.)H.Haraが中国南部一帯に広く分布すること,中国西南部に東南アジア固有とされたPersioaria odorata(Lour.)Sojakが産し,日本のサクラタデもこれと種としては同じと考えられることなどが新たにわかった。
