本研究の目的は、国際関係研究において普遍的かつ自明なものとしてその位置を正統化されてきた「理論」に、国際関係をめぐる歴史的・思想的コンテクストの中から紡ぎ出されてきた動態的な認識枠組みの析出としての光を当てることである。具体例として、国際関係研究において先駆的な業績を残したイギリスのE・H・カー(1892-1982)の思想と行動を取り上げ、その世界史的・学説史的位置の再検討を目指した。採用期間の最終年度にあたる本年は、主に研究の取りまとめを行い以下のような成果を挙げた。まず、カーの第二次世界大戦後のさまざまな構想とその政治的・社会的背景について考察した日本語論文が、査読を経て国内の学術雑誌に掲載された。この論文では、「新しいヨーロッパ」という言葉に象徴されるヨーロッパ戦後構想が、社会・経済計画の重要性やヨーロッパの機能的な統合を求めるものであったことが明らかにされ、その政治的・理論史的文脈における独自の位置が再確認された。まだ、本トピックも含めカーの思想と行動全般を扱った英語論文が査読にかけられている。論文執筆に必要な調査は、ゴンドンの国立公文書館と大英図書館、キール大学にておこなった。公文書館では、政策決定に関する文書を閲覧し、胎動期の国際関係論がイギリスの政策決定にも一定の影響力を及ぼしていたことを確認した。また、大英図書館およびキール大学の図書館にて、イギリスにおける戦間期のヨーロッパ構想に関するこれまでの研究をレビューし、歴史的文献を参照しながら、国際関係理論の初期の動向を実際の国際政治の変動に照らして考察した。本調査の一部は、5月にキール大学で行なわれるシンポジウムにて発表される予定である。

The study of the theory of international relations in the early stages of international politics is based on the literature on the theory of international relations in the United Kingdom. A part of this survey was conducted in May.
