4月にワイカト大学からTe Hiranga Maori(Certificate of Maori Studies)を取得、さらに10月には、マオリ語通信教育最終の第4課程(上級)をA+の成績で修了した。本科研の3年間の硫究期間中にフィールドワークと文献を読むために必要なオセアニアのポリネシア言語の核になるマオリ語を習得したことの意義は大きい。8月にはニュージーランドのワイカト大学を拠点に、フィールドワークと資料収集を行った。調査の内容は、(1)マオリ第7代王の戴冠一周年記念式典に参加し、ワイカト地域を中心に19世紀から発展してきた"Kingitanga (King movement)"と呼ばれるマオリの民族ナショナリズムの現在のあり方を考察、(2)ワイカト地域のクラカウパパ(マオリ語イマージョンの小学校)とファレクラ(マオリ語イマージョンの中高等学校)において先住民言語教育を視察、マオリ語で異文化を学ぶ教材開発の可能性についてアンケート調査、(3)ファレ・オランガと呼ばれる伝統医療施設を訪問、インタビューし、マオリの医療とポストコロニアル文化の形成に関して考察、(4)ハミルトン市の移民成人学生を対象とする英語の授業を視察、学生たちが英語と母国語で綴った短編小説集を入手、という4点である。本科研のフィールドワークで得た成果を2008年12月にオーストラリアで開催される先住民教育に関する国際学会WIPCE(World Indigenous Peoples' Conference on Education)で発表すべく、2月に概要("Multicultural Teaching Resource for Indigenous Education : Maori and Japanese Perspective")を投稿した。結果発表は3月末日の予定である。

The result is that the end of March is scheduled.
