项目摘要

申請者は、日韓関係における「ナショナリズム」を考察するため、「沖縄」に注目してきた。特に、沖縄と韓国における「女性」の表象と国民国家の関係を、その構造的側面が顕著に現れる戦時や占領状況から、具体的な歴史分析と国際関係理論の接点を通して考えてきた。本研究の意図は、日本と韓国におけるナショナリズムの問題を、世界システムのなかで最もミクロな認識的アプローチを通し考える領域たる、「ナショナリズム」と「占領」との関係を検証することにある。既存の研究において沖縄と韓国の軍政関係の比較研究は行われていないために、両地域における軍政関係の関係性は、特に安全保障のアクターとして国家を設定した研究では十分に検討できなかったのが現状である。申請者は、軍政関係の比較研究における「軍政と住民」を基本スタンスとし、「軍政」(占領)概念を、「行為主体」として「国家が持つ脆弱性」として再定義した。このような「占領」概念を最も顕在的に論じるため申請者が注目したのが、沖縄における女性体験である。特に、「従軍慰安婦」や「辻遊郭(「売春婦」)の事例を用いて分析を行ってきた。本研究の分析方法は、次のような三つの方向性を持って行われた。第一、「慰安を与える女性とナショナリズム」。第二、「売買春の歴史的考察と『聞き取り』の位置-被害者の証言の主体と客体」、第三、「占領の再定義」がそれである。第一の方向性は日本軍と米軍による性サービスの場を歴史的に位置づけるものである。第二は、ジェンダー理論の中で具体化した。さらに、第三では、歴史学とジェンダーの接点を追求した。このような方向性を持った研究を通し最終的に「占領」概念を再定義した。本研究は、占領下の女性体験というものがある土地に住んでいる住民にいかなる影響を与えたのかを捉える点で、今なお続いている戦争に普遍的な価値判断を与えるものである。また、日本軍占領から米軍占領へと変る過程で総力戦における戦闘員から非戦闘員として変貌している住民の姿を、新たな占領概念から位置づけた点においては、沖縄学に新しい視点を提示するものである。
