本研究では、大気レーダーに音響発射装置を付加したRASS(Radio Acoustic Sounding System)を活用して、気温・風速・水蒸気の時間・高度分布を精測し、大気波動、乱流、積雲の動態を解明した.信楽MU観測所、沖縄の443MHzレーダー(NICT)、西スマトラの赤道大気レーダー(EAR)、およびガダンキのMSTレーダーによる観測を実現し、得られたデータを衛星観測ともあわせて気象擾乱の特性解析を明らかにした.また最新のレーダー技術を適用してRASSの気温鉛直分解能を向上させた.
