本研究では, 射出成形を用いた新しいRBセラミックス(射出成形型RBセラミックス)を製造し, 同材料の大気中無潤滑下, 水潤滑下, 真空環境下での摩擦・摩耗特性を明らかにした. その結果, 射出成形型RBセラミックスは, 大気中無潤滑下, 水潤滑下において, 幅広いすべり速度, 荷重条件下で0.2以下の低い摩擦係数, 10^(-8)mm^2/N以下の低い比摩耗量を示した. また, 大気圧環境(1×10^5Pa)から6×10^(-3)Paまでの雰囲気圧力環境において, アルミナを相手材料とすることで0.03程度の極めて低い摩擦係数を示すことが判った.
