光の偏光状態の制御は、光通信・計測・分光等さまざまな分野において重要な技術である。高速に偏光状態を制御するためには、2つの偏光成分間の位相整合と、光波と高速変調信号の速度整合とを同時に取らねばならない。本研究では、2偏光成分間の位相整合のための短周期分極反転構造と、光波と変調信号の速度整合のための長周期分極反転構造を組み合わせた二重周期分極反転構造を用いた新しい高速偏光制御デバイスを提案した。試作の結果、15GHz 帯における基本動作実験に成功し、その有用性を実証した
