本研究は、口腔癌の転移機構をケモカインシグナルの観点から解析することを目的とし、口腔癌臨床材料、口腔癌培養細胞およびヌードマウスに移植した口腔癌細胞のリンパ節転移および血行転移モデルを用いて、ケモカインおよびケモカインレセプター発現を免疫組織学的、細胞・遺伝子工学的に検索した結果、代表的なケモカインレセプターであるCXCR4は、口腔扁平上皮癌、腺様嚢胞癌の転移や予後に、さらに悪性線維性組織球腫の転移にも深く関与していることが示唆された。
