トルコ共和国,イラン・イスラム共和国,ギリシャ共和国においてアブラナ科植物を宿主としている病原ウイルスにっいて調査した。その結果、カブモザイクウイルス(TuMV)がトルコやイランで発生していることを初めて明らかにし、キュウリモザイクウイルス(CMV)だけでなくカリフラワーモザイクウイルス(CaMV)がこれらの地方において農作物に甚大な被害を与えていることを明らかにした。TuMVとCaMVの数分離株についてはゲノム構造を解明し、ウイルスと宿主植物の起源が同一の可能性が高いことを明らかにした。
