雲南省に居住する11の少数民族と漢族が利用する薬用資源調査を行い, 合計約480件余りの民族薬物に関する情報を取得した。情報としては薬物名, 利用目的, 利用方法, ならびにそれら薬物利用の背景などである。利用目的は多岐に渡っていたが, リウマチや外傷, 婦人科領域が特に多く見られ, 中には中医学の影響を強く受けたと思われる利用法も確認された。また, 民族によっては民族独自の医薬体系を持つものもあり, 利用される資源も民族によってかなり異なっていることがわかった。
