本研究は、亜鉛の栄養状態が子どもの成長や、予防接種(麻疹)による免疫の獲得を含めた感染症の罹患に与える影響について検討することを目的とした。ベトナム北西部Bac Giang省YenThe地区を代表する4村において、6ヶ月齢～2歳の乳幼児とその母親を対象とし、乳幼児の亜鉛の栄養状態、母乳および離乳食からの亜鉛摂取状況、成長発達、予防接種後の麻疹抗体価および感染症の発症について調査を実施し、栄養介入を今後実施するために有益な知見を得た。
