项目摘要

本研究は、鎌倉幕府の中世国家論上の意義、さらには日本国家史上における位置を、「心性」や「非常時」などを分析視角に据えて、京都朝廷との比較・総合から究明しようとするものである。昨年度までは、故実や先例など鎌倉幕府における歴史意識・系譜認識の分析から、幕府の自己認識や朝廷を相対化しうるアイデンティティを検討してきた。本年度は、昨年度までの検討とも関連させつつ、前近代東アジア世界において「国家」に関わる統治イデオロギーである天人相関説・徳政思想の幕府における導入・展開について検討を行った。特に、三代将軍源実朝期の幕府における政治的志向性やイデオロギーを、後鳥羽院・順徳院という同時代の朝廷における権力の在り方=横軸と、初代将軍頼朝・二代将軍頼家という鎌倉幕府における政治的な系譜=縦軸の両面から関連付けて検討し、以下の諸点について考究した。すなわち、(1)実朝の学芸への関心は、同時代の朝廷における礼楽思想や諸道興隆の潮流と軌を一にするものであり、文化教養への逃避ではなく、統治意欲の顕現の一環である。(2)その中で、天人相関説や徳政思想など統治者としてのイデオロギーが積極的に移入され、天変地異など非常時においては、朝廷と同様、徳政と祈祷とによる対応が実践されるようになる。(3)こうした統治意識や学芸認識は、実朝においては、父の初代頼朝を先例として尊重する意識とも符合し、特に、兄の二代頼家が反頼朝的姿勢を表し、短期間に失脚したのとは対照的である。京都朝廷との関わりの中で鎌倉幕府におけるアイデンティティやイデオロギーを考究し、幕府の国家論上の評価を下すには、さらに、多様な観点からの検討が求められるが、本年度の検討から、特に実朝期を一つの画期として、幕府は天人相関説などの統治イデオロギーを移入・実践し、朝廷とは各別の中世日本における「国家」として展開していったと捉えうるものと展望するものである。
