项目摘要

本研究の目的は、モバイル・ユビキタス環境での空間(地理)情報へのアクセスにおいて、従来のような対象オブジェクトの具体的な名称のみを用いた参照ではなく、外観や概念階層も活用することでより柔軟な参照を実現するため、実世界オブジェクトの外観や概念階層に関するデータベースをWeb上の情報資源をもとに自動構築することである。本年度からは、オブジェクトの画像メディアとしての外観情報をWebから検索する研究に本格的に着手し、オブジェクトの典型的な外観情報(記述および画像)だけでなく、Webから抽出したオブジェクトの特異な外観記述(色名)を特異な外観特徴量(色特徴量)に変換することによってオブジェクトの特異画像をWebから検索する手法を考案した。Webサービスとして一般に提供されている画像検索システムや従来手法(画像内容に基づくクラスタリングやVisualRank等)との比較を行い、提案手法による検索精度の改善を検証し、今後の研究の課題などの考察も行った。また、オブジェクトの外観に関するデータベースの構築の重要性を明に示すため、オブジェクトの外観情報を活用した応用システムとして、実世界で出遭った名称不明なオブジェクトの情報を精度良く検索するための外観記述によるオブジェクト名検索システムを開発した。一方で、オブジェクトの概念階層(is-a関係やhas-a関係)の知識をWebから自動抽出する新しい手法も考案した。"x such as y"や"y is a x"といった構文パターンに基づく従来手法とは異なり、各語概念の典型的な性質(部分語や振る舞い語)をWebから抽出した上で、対象の語概念間に性質継承があるか否かによって、is-a関係があるか否かを評価する手法である。
