伸展された歯根膜細胞にrelaxin刺激を行った結果, Col-Iタンパク産生量およびmRNA発現量はrelaxin濃度依存的に減少が認められたが, MMP-1の発現量は濃度依存的に増加が認められた。relaxinが伸展されたヒト歯根膜細胞におけるCol-IとMMP-1の発現に影響を与えたことより, このホルモンが矯正治療後の後戻りを防止するのに有効である可能性が示唆された
