本研究は、イスラム諸国のうち、わが国からスポーツ分野の派遣の実績のある、シリア、ヨルダン、エジプト、チュニジア、モロッコ、インドネシア、マレーシア、モルディブを取り上げ、これらの国々における身体面での教育の特質を学校体育制度や学校体育教員養成制度などといった側面から明らかにしようとしたものである。各国の身体教育システムの比較考察という観点から分析・整理を行うことで、各国の社会的背景の相違に基づく、身体教育の特質を導出することが可能となった。
