近年、各自治体への企業会計手法の導入が進んでいるが、その実効性が疑問視される背景を、自治体による会計情報の公開の意義や、公開のインセンティブという観点から考察した。その結果、自治体会計改革の後発事例(他の先駆的自治体の後追い的に改革を行ったもの)は、自治体としての正当性確保のための同型化と解釈でき、先駆的事例では、よくいわれるような財政危機はなく、首長のリーダーシップが大きく影響していたことが明らかとなった
