文化的慣習の般化とは、ある特定の場面の経験により獲得された信念が一般化され、別の場面においても適用されてしまうことをさす。本研究では、特にルール違反に関する般化を取り上げる。本年度は2年計画の2年目であり、特に日常生活に関わるルールについて、(1)関連性の高いルールほど違反を容認する傾向が共通しているか、(2)違反容認意識と周囲の他者が違反を容認している程度が関連しているか、を中心に検討を行った。日常的なルールを対象とするため、市民を対象とした無作為抽出による調査を行った。藤沢市民1000名を調査対象とした郵送調査、モニターサンプル800名を対象としたインターネット調査を行った。その結果、上記の2つの問題について、(1)関連性の強い問題について、ルール違反を容認する傾向の相関が高いこと、(2)ルール違反を容認する傾向は日常的に接する他者と共有されていることが示された。今年度の研究の結果から、ルール違反を容認する意識は、関連性の高い別の問題にも般化する可能性が示唆された。また、違反を容認する傾向は、周囲の他者と共有されることによって強化される可能性も合わせて示された。昨年度に行われた企業組織の安全意識についての検討と合わせて考慮すると、ルール違反の常態化という問題を検討する際に、慣習の般化という視点が有効であると言えるだろう。ただし、本研究で行われたのは相関を通じた分析であり、今後因果関係については更なる検討が必要である。
