本研究は、従来と比較して小型(1m^3)で可搬性があり商用原子炉建屋の中に置くことができる安全性の高い固体型原子炉ニュートリノ検出器を開発することを目的として行った。プラスチックシンチレータ板、ガドリニウム板などを多数重ねた小型プロトタイプ検出器を製作し、放射線源(Am241-Be)を用いて擬似ニュートリノ反応事象を作り、遅延同時計数法で測定した。擬似ニュートリノ反応の初期信号(γ線)と遅延信号(中性子)を捕らえて反応事象を同定できた。より大型化すれば、原子炉ニュートリノの検出が可能であることがわかった。
