Olfactory ensheathing cell (OEC)は、脊髄損傷の移植療法として注目されているが、基礎的研究は不十分である。我々はOEC の基礎的性質を明らかにするために本研究を行った。その結果、OEC の治療効果は軸策伸展能の単独効果ではないこと、EC が神経堤由来である可能性が高いこと、嗅粘膜由来sphere がOEC の供給源になりうること等を明らかにした。
