新たに近代の茶会記60点余を発掘した。第1次データベースは2万2千件を超え、主要な7百人の生没年、屋号、茶号、流派、学歴、役職歴からなる第2次データベースを作成した。明治～昭和戦後にいたる近代数寄者のネットワークを確認し、昭和前期に三井財閥を核とする近代数寄者のネットワークが崩壊する一方で、学者・芸術家のインテリ層の茶界への進出や女流茶人の台頭が明らかとなった。なお、研究がなかった関西、中京、金沢の茶界の実態も判明した。
