結晶や花の形はどのようにしてつくられるのか?私たちの身の回りのデザインはどのようにつくられているのか?生物は誕生以来どのように進化してきたのか?また大絶滅が生じるのはなぜか?従来物理の理論をもちいて記述するのが通例であるが、これでは上にのべた質問に対する答えはむずかしい。本研究では離散ラプラス作用素というものを平面格子系上に導入し、0,1の分布を与え離散ラプラス作用素のその時間変化を考えることによりこれらの現象を統一的に示すことができることを示す。
