マラリアは、世界的には最も重要な感染症であるが、ワクチン開発は遅れており、また宿主(ヒト)の感染防御や感染病態についての理解は不十分である。本研究では、マラリア抗原特異的な宿主の免疫応答について解析するために、モデル抗原として免疫学解析によく用いられる人工抗原・卵白アルブミンを発現する組換えマラリア原虫を作成した。この組換えマラリア原虫を用いて、マラリア感染におけるT細胞の免疫応答と病態に関する基礎研究を行った。
