人は癌を告知されたとき様々な精神状態となる。また、癌そのものによっても様々な精神状態をきたす。精神状態は神経伝達物質による神経活動によって規定されるがそのなかでも大きな役割を果たしているのはドーパミンとセロトニンである。そこでドーパミンとセロトニンの変化がどのように腫瘍に影響を与えるか遺伝子改変マウスにて解析した。今回の研究結果は癌患者のせん妄状態や抑うつ状態に対する対処法に示唆を与えるのみならず、新しい分子標的治療法の開発につながる。
