甲状腺ホルモン(T3)は骨の形成・代謝に大きな影響を及ぼす.T3 により発現が増加するRCAN2は、骨の形成・代謝にも重要な作用を及ぼすカルシニューリンの調節蛋白であることから、T3の骨に対する作用がRCAN2 発現調節を介するものであるかを検討した.その結果、新生仔期に於いてはT3 が骨でのRCAN2 発現を調節し、RCAN2 ノックアウトマウスで骨形成が遅延することが示された.したがって、新生仔期におけるT3 の骨形成に対する作用の一部はRCAN2 の発現調節を介していると考えられた.
