統合失調症患者とコントロールの末梢血を顆粒球、リンパ球に分けて、コンプレキシン2、D3RとD4R の発現量をリアルタイムRT-PCR法を用いて定量した。コンプレキシン2は末梢血での発現量は少ないにもかわらず、死後脳研究と同様に末梢血でも変化があることが確認された。同様にD4Rは、以前の報告されているように作業記憶と関与しており、末梢血での変化は認知機能障害を反映する可能性があった。
