シスチントランスポーターBAT1/rBATの変異は、シスチン尿症を引き起こす。日本人に多く見られるBAT1のP132Lという変異によって、シスチントランスポーターの機能が消失し、これは機能保持に関与するタンパク質が結合できなくなった結果だと考えられた。そこでBAT1結合タンパク質の同定とその機能解析を目指し研究を行った。その結果、BAT1 の機能調節に関与すると思われる結合タンパク質をいくつか同定できたが、P132L 変異体に結合しなかったものは見つからなかった。
