炭素数4,6,8,10,12の塩化n-アルキルアンモニウムが融点直下で形成する二次元的なイオン伝導パスをもったrotator 相へ、ごく少量のLiCl を添加すると、アルキル鎖の短い塩化n-アルキルアンモニウムほど電気伝導度が増加しやすく、LiCl 無添加物と比較して最大約15 倍まで増加することを確認した。また、固体NMR スペクトルからは、リチウムイオンがアルキルアンモニウムイオンの親水基末端付近にある2 種の異なったサイトに位置することを明らかにした。
